it's the second week of school. why do i feel like i've gone through five?
and it's only wednesday!
had my writing (ACW) class today, where we were critiquing a reading. to my frustration, my teacher asked questions that were answers in themselves. an example--my own-- would be, "so are apples red... or green?" to which the only answer i could think of was "yes".
stimulate my brain please.
though, okay, my brain was slightly dead this morning--why do writing classes always start at 930???--so such questions were well, apt. but it did make me question why i woke up so early for this lesson. anyway. i shall not complain. (so grumpy when i'm tired!)
i'm having a headache.
been busy rushing fyp survey questions (madness, trust me), and then getting stuck again when we had to refer back to the theories to guide our structure and whatnots. very painful. and when we're under stress i tend to turn into a greedy pig that wants to eat anything and everything. i, not the other group members. i had to use extra energy to control my greed. shucks, no wonder i'm tired.
last night my mum remarked to me that i'm 23 this year. "oh yeah," i told her, knowing it must be something newsworthy for her, the kind that appears in her lianhe wanbao or xinming ribao, those chinese tabloids splattered with sensational news and exaggerated superstitions. my mum thinks they're credible, and there's no fighting her when she says "that doctor from The Newspaper says..." or "some scientist said in The Newspaper..." anyway. she said in response, "and you still can't grow up." mouth full of toothpaste foam and grumpy (yet again) cos i was tired, i said, "hello, you don't let me grow up." to which she retorted, "but you still don't know how to think (maturely)!", referring to the fact that i was sleeping at 1+am even though i was tired. if i didn't have work to do, i'd really have gone to sleep earlier, mum. but i only thought that to myself, cos by then grumpy and getting worked up me had given up wasting extra energy which could be used to finish up the rest of my nightly routine before i collapse in exhaustion. (on the bed, of course. imagine if i had waved my toothbrush at her and spluttered toothpaste foam all over the mirror above the sink. and then suddenly collapsed on the floor. not a pretty sight.)
so anyway. here i am, half-awake/dead. something like my handphone, that was dead but now is alive. (amen!) this semester seems to be more xiong and hiong (bring in all the chinese and dialect), and i look to the heavens and wonder what is the matter. it's my last semester, for goodness sake! i should be taking things easy, shaking my epilated legs, and typing with one hand for my fyp report. why am stuck with a mini-research-fyp for ICC, a major written work (6000-8000 word fiction) to do, and a big fyp to complete?
i need to "retreat to one corner and feel". (haha. sorry, inside joke.)
and just to end off on a much happier note, a picture of my jc girls (partly to test if mabel reads my blog.):
(i know she doesn't.)
ciao!
